Installation

PySide Installation :

DeeX VRay Arsenal do not distribute PySide, but, you need PySide in Maya to use the tool.
You do not need PySide for batch rendering (render farm do not need PySide).
You do not need to install PySide for Maya 2014 and more (PySide is already included in Maya >= 2014).

Windows

For Maya 2011-x64/2012-x64/2013-x64

  • Maya 2011-x64/2012-x64/2013-x64 : download here, mirror here

Download the .zip file and unzip it in a folder, for example in P:\arsenal\pyside_maya2011x64_2012x64_2013x64

Setting up :

1) Create an empty text file in your Maya install :

  • For Maya 2011-x64 : “C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2011/Python/Lib/site-packages”
  • For Maya 2012-x64 : “C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2012/Python/lib/site-packages”
  • For Maya 2013-x64 : “C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2013/Python/Lib/site-packagess”

directory and rename it to something like PySide.pth (carreful with the extension .pth, not .txt)

  • Open that file in a text editor and paste the full path to your PySide site-packages folder (where you unziped PySide) :

You have PySide for Maya installed.
PySide uses LGPL licence.

DeeX VRay Arsenal Installation :

DeeX Render Tool need Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64). Please download here and install.
1) Unzip the downloaded file in a folder :

2) Create or open a Maya.env file in your Maya installation.
For windows (Maya 2012×64 for example here), generally it is in :

If you have the variable PATH already setted in you Maya.env, add this at the end of the line :

If you have the variable XBMLANGPATH already setted in you Maya.env, add this at the end of the line :

Please change” :

  • “DEEX_VRAY_ARSENAL = P:\arsenal\deeXVRayArsenal” with your path (first line). Example : DEEX_VRAY_ARSENAL = P:\MyNewPath
  • “DEEX_MAYA_VERSION = 2012″ with your Maya version. Example : DEEX_MAYA_VERSION = 2013
  • “DEEX_OS = win64″ with your OS version. Example DEEX_OS = linux
1) Unzip the downloaded file in a folder (example here : /Volumes/share/arsenal/deeXVRayArsenal) :

Copy the file : bin/libTurboActivate.dylib and bin/TurboActivate.dat in the directory : /Applications/Autodesk/maya2014/Maya.app/Contents/MacOS/

2) Create or open a Maya.env file in your Maya installation.
For Osx (Maya 2014×64 for example here), generally it is in :

  • “DEEX_MAYA_VERSION = 2014″ with your Maya version. Example : DEEX_MAYA_VERSION = 2015
  • “DEEX_OS = win64″ with your OS version. Example DEEX_OS = osx

4) Now you can start DeeX VRay Arsenal in Maya. You can :

  • click on the shelves button or
  • write this code on the script editor in PYTHON :

DeeX VRay Arsenal activation :

To activate DeeX VRay Arsenal, just start the tool and enter your key.

When the plugin is activated, you will see this on the output window of Maya :

Error messages :

Q:# Error: ImportError: No module named PySide.QtCore #

You have this error because PySide is not installed. Please see the installation page to install PySide. Please add the site-packages folder in the PySide.pth file.

Q:# Error: line 1: RuntimeError: file C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2013\Python\lib\site-packages\pymel\internal\pmcmds.py line 134: Plug-in, “arsenalPass.mll”, was not found on MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH. #

You have this error because Maya do not found the plug-in. To resolve this, please check your MAYA_PLUGIN_PATH variable in your Maya.env (see the installaton page)

Q:No icon in the shelve ?

Please check the XBMLANGPATH variable in your Maya.env (see the installaton page)
